Maurizio Tira

Maurizio Tira, Environmental Engineer, is Full Professor of Town and Regional Planning, member of the Academy of Sciences of Bologna Institute and the Academy of Sciences, Letters and Arts of Brescia. He is President of the National Society of Urban Planners, former president of the National Centre for Urban Studies and emeritus president of the Association Italian Local Agenda 21. He was member of the Technical Structure of the Italian Ministry of Transport and Infrastructures from 2017 to 2018 and he is at present member, at the Italian Ministry for sustainable infrastructure and mobility, of: –        the Commission for the reform of National urban planning legislation, – the expert committee for the Interministerial Committee for Urban Policies.  Expert member of the European Transport Safety Council, he worked as an expert for the OECD and coordinated the COST Action “Land management for urban dynamics”, as well as several other research units in EU funded projects about mobility and urban planning, road safety, land use planning in hazardous areas. Author of about 270 publications, he has been invited lecturer to a broad number of conferences in Italy and abroad. Commander of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic, from December 2020, Paul Harris Prize, in 2017, he is Rector of the University of Brescia (Italy) as for November 1st, 2016 and member of the Board of the Italian Rectors’ Conference, delegate for international affairs.
